Senate Budget Committee announces Mulvaney nomination hearing

The Senate Budget Committee will hold a hearing on the nomination of Rep. Mick Mulvaney to lead the White House Office of Management and Budget next Tuesday.

A founding member of the hardline House Freedom Caucus, the South Carolina Republican could face opposition among Democrats. But Republicans have roundly embraced him, suggesting Senate confirmation to be Donald Trump’s budget director is likely.

The hearing will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 24, at the 608 Dirksen Senate Office Building.
