Democrat Beto O’Rourke, who is running against Governor Greg Abbott, confronted Abbott during a press conference. Officials with the governor shouted back at O’Rourke, demanding he leave and accusing him of politicizing the incident. NBC News’ Morgan Chesky pressed O’Rourke for his message to Abbott after the incident: “Now is the time to stop the next shooting,” he said. Today Abbott defended his efforts to ease gun restrictions.
