Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence will lead the U.S. delegation to the Winter Olympics in South Korea, according to a source Wednesday with knowledge of the trip.
The trip will also include stops in Alaska, where Pence will review intercontinental ballistic missile defense systems. He’ll also stop in Japan.
The announcement comes during a slight ratcheting down of tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Officials from North Korea recently met with their South Korean counterparts and agreed to send a delegation to the Olympics, which will be held next month in PyeongChang.
