Hmmm. I don’t know. What kind of referendum on 1990s-era Democrats and their worldview was offered in places like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio again? I forget.

Relatedly: the propensity of Virginia governors to imagine themselves to be made of presidential timber is a rare argument against term limits.
